A Year In Review: 2024 Wrapped Up

JUNE | A Historical Belmont Meet at Saratoga Race Course

Earlier this year, SFA Gallery and the city of Saratoga Springs welcomed over 100,000 thoroughbred racing fans to the Saratoga Race Course to host the 2024 Belmont meet- a historical event uniting equine enthusiasts from around the globe. The meet generated a remarkable surge in interest and appreciation for the equine world, attracting individuals who share a passion for horses and equestrian art. The impact on the community was profound, fostering connections among collectors, artists, and admirers, while also highlighting the importance of equine history and artistic expression in contemporary society.

 

A Visit from Artist Bradley Chance Hays

SFA Gallery welcomed back artist and cowboy, Bradley Chance Hays, for the 2024 Saratoga meet. Bradley, a professional calf roper and artist from Montana, travels the country for rodeos and live painting demonstrations and has become nationally recognized for his abstract western style and collaborations with brand like Wrangler.


JULY | Jessica Leonard Solo Exhibit: The Winner’s Circle

To kick off the horse-racing season, equine artist Jessica Leonard was highlighted in a captivating solo exhibition that showcased her highly realistic and masterfully crafted oil paintings. This exhibition not only celebrates her talent but also honors the beauty and grace of the equine subjects she so skillfully portrays.


AUGUST | Artist Greg Montgomery Signs His 39th Travers Poster

This year, Saratoga legend and artist Greg Montgomery signed the 39th poster in The Colors of Racing poster series. Greg’s highly anticipated yearly contribution to the equine racing world began 40 years ago as original silkscreen posters and has since become an iconic staple of the Saratoga Race Course.


NOVEMBER | Alexei Butirskiy Solo Exhibit and Live Painting

Painter Alexei Butirskiy returned for a weekend-long live painting event and exhibition. Alexei is a classically trained artist originally from Moscow, Russia. His detailed paintings depict urban life truthfully and without exaggeration, with a common relationship the connection between light and dark.
